Svalbard in winter

Returning of the sun

For about 3 months Svalbard is covered by the night sky. The polar night. In mid february the light slowly returns in the horizon and the long shadows starts to appear in the snow covered landscape again. It is the time there the sunrise and sunset blends together as one and the beautiful arctic light is to expetience in the high arctic.
Also a favorite time for nature photographers to come and explore the newly lit up landscape after a long winter.
This gallery show photos taken from the mid March and out through april of the extrodinary landscapes and magnificent animals living in these harsh conditions.
